Football team taking one game at a time

Last year’s victory in the NJCAA National Football Championship against Garden City Community College was notable, but each season is a new season.

Aug. 25 marked the beginning of this football season. With the bleachers at Santa Rita High School in Tucson packed with 7,000 people, the stakes were high in the game against the brand new Pima College Storm.

In a disappointing loss, 30-28, Joe Kersting, head coach, said the team made a few mistakes the first game, but it was better to get them out early on in the season. Kersting expects the team to take one game at a time, one win at a time.

The Gauchos could have suffered from the lack of depth because it lost half its team last year, but gained back lost ground with a win against Arizona Western College in Yuma, 35-16, last Saturday.
